KATHRYN MONAHAN, Candidate for East Marlborough Township Board of Supervisors
Hello! I am a lifelong Democrat and I have been serving as one of the five East Marlborough Township Supervisors since January 2020. I grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and moved to the Kennett Area after retiring as a pharmaceutical sales representative with Johnson & Johnson. I live in Walnut Walk off of N. Walnut Road. I am an advocate of transparent, accountable and strategic leadership. I am committed to non-partisan, consensus decision-making. And, I encourage and want to continue to facilitate citizen engagement in our decision-making process. I support our rich history of land conservation and open space preservation. I also support planning for the future needs of our residential communities. With new housing and an excellent school system, our township has and continues to attract new residents. We have the opportunity to not only protect our open space, but also to make sure that we are prepared to accommodate our growth as a residential community and to meet the needs of our residential neighborhoods. With my fellow supervisors, I want to provide our township manager and township employees with the leadership they need to fulfill our day-to-day financial and township responsibilities in the areas of public works, police and fire protection, land use planning and zoning, and historic preservation. Working together as a Board, I also want to anticipate and plan for currently unmet and future needs, such as for walking and bike trails, access to neighboring parks, greenways and trails, improved pedestrian and traffic safety, and other community amenities. I am a graduate of the University of Delaware. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, fitness activities and relaxing in Rehoboth Beach.
