Who’s there?
Weeneedja who?
Weeneedja to knock on doors if we’re going to elect Democrats in November!
And that’s a fact. The research tells us that there is nothing more powerful than face-to-face time with voters.** And that means you knocking on doors and canvassing.I’ll be honest: I was afraid to knock on doors the first two years I was a KAD committee person. I had a bad case of the ‘What ifs:’ What if they yell at me? What if I can’t answer their questions? What if I disturb them during dinner? What if I forget my script or don’t record their information correctly? What if…?’

And then one day I just went out and did it…and it was a lot more fun and rewarding than I ever imagined! Here’s what I learned:

–People are nice.
–They seldom asked questions I couldn’t answer and when they did, I told them I’d get back to them.
–If they were too busy to talk, I left my information and moved on.
–Most were happy that someone cared enough about them to ask for their opinion.
–Most of them agreed with us!

Look…we’re not going to send you out to knock on doors of right-wing Fox-watching fanatics who will never vote for our candidates. That would be a waste of your valuable time. Here’s what we will do:

–We’ll ask you to knock on doors of folks who either lean our way or are already for us.
–We’ll send you out in pairs, if you want, to make it easier and more fun.
–We’ll give you sample scripts and FAQs that you can use or revise until they feel right for you.
–We’ll answer all of your questions before your first knock.

So…what do you think? Canvassing is the most effective action you can take to elect Democrats in November. Are you in? If so, please email our Canvass Team Leader Marc Girardot at mjgdem@gmail.com to let him know you’d like to volunteer.

You can do this!
