Dear Friend,

Yes, it is March Madness and it swirls around us, not just on the basketball courts, but in our state courts, elsewhere around the state, and all the while as war rages in Ukraine.

We have a primary election on May 17th. Candidates must file petitions to appear on the ballot. Our statewide candidates and our congressional candidate filed their petitions today. Many of you came out to sign their petitions. Thank you.

But here is the thing, our PA state house and senate district maps have yet to finalize! The maps were approved in mid-February, were challenged, and now await final approval. Our state reps will be left scrambling to get petitions signed in an abbreviated petition signing period, all part of the March madness.

Keep on the look-out for an announcement for petitions signing events.

Then there is the issue of the new state house districts. There will be changes in state house districts for many of those who live in the region of the Kennett Area Democrats. We will inform you of those changes as soon as they are finalized.

Please check out our website for information on Election 2022, as it becomes available. In our column, In the Kennett Spotlight, we introduce you to the candidates of our only contested race, the US Senate. There you will also find links to their campaign websites.

Meanwhile, the GOP, after winning in the Commonwealth Court declaring mail-in voting unconstitutional, subsequently lost this battle when the Supreme Court over-turned the ruling of the Commonwealth Court. Vote by mail will remain, for now. Go HERE to APPLY for your mail in ballot.

As we approach the midway point of March many will be wearing their green, and others will continue to celebrate women’s history month. The theme for 2022 is Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.
I provide some links you may enjoy, HERE and HERE. There are many stories to inspire you, but don’t forget your everyday heroines.

Many of you have already offered to help. In case you missed it, we will need canvassers, phone bankers, poll workers and poll watchers. Send an email and fill out the form included HERE.

Until next time, many well wishes to all.
