We are one week out from the Primary Election, Tuesday MAY 18th.
While most of our races are uncontested, when there is a contest the CCDC, KAD or local Committee Persons (for municipal level races) will make recommendations. Note that these are suggestions, and not demands. As Democrats we believe it is important for all voters to evaluate the candidates and make their own decisions. We offer our suggestions after careful consideration and a greater than 65% approval for said candidate.
ALL REGISTERED VOTERS – VOTE on May 18th!
There is an exception I will make regarding our recommendations on the Constitutional Amendment Ballot questions. To be clear, Ballot Questions 1 and 2 were exclusively written and passed as legislation by the Republican majority in our State House. Ballot Question 1 will amend the State Constitution by eliminating the system of checks balances that is a fundamental principle of our democratic form of government. It will allow the Legislators to terminate a disaster declaration without going through the usual process of checks and balances. Ballot Question 2 preemptively sets an emergency declaration to expire in 21 days, with potentially dire consequences.
Understand this: The same Republicans who tried to undermine our 2020 Presidential election results, attended and/or supported the January 6th Insurrection on our Capitol, called COVID a hoax, dismissed the preventative importance of wearing masks and limiting mass gatherings, were responsible for mass spreader events, these same Republicans are pushing to amend our State Constitution for their own selfish ends.
EVERYONE: VOTE NO on BALLOT QUESTIONS 1 and 2!
