Maricela has been working with families for 20 years. She started with the Chester County Intermediate Unit, then with Families of Chester County, and, in addition to her position at After-The-Bell, she currently serves as the Family Services Director at Tick Tock Early Learning Center. Maricela is a trained Spanish-English interpreter and translator. Maricela has been doing translations at Tick Tock and volunteered to do translations in the KCSD school district for the schools and PTOs. Maricela enjoys spending time with her son and daughter when there is an opportunity, and also supporting local non-profits.
Why are you running for the School board?
After moving to Kennett in 1990, I felt comfortable in the community and decided to stay. Eventually, I decided to become an early childhood educator and work with children. Over the years, I’ve been involved in various non-profits as a volunteer. My children grew up and graduated from KCSD, and I’m hoping to volunteer as a demonstration of my gratitude for all the benefits provided by the school.

- Dual Language programs
- Teacher and staff retention
