Updates

You may wish to look at the following items later today and consider the court orders trying to reverse Trump actions,  while the administration continues to intimidate immigrants and the American people:

 

• the May 23, 2025 Memorandum in Support Of Plaintiff’s Emergency Motion for a Temporary Restraining Order to prevent the administration from banning international students from the Harvard campus. One interesting point is that an additional counsel has been added as the first name on the list, Jenner & Block.

 

• the May 23, 2025 requested Temporary Restraining Order  granted by District of Massachusetts Federal Judge Allison D. Burroughs

 

• the May 22, 2025 requested preliminary injunction granted by Judge Jeffrey S. White of the Northern District of California protecting thousands of international students whose visas were revoked earlier this year without clear justification.

 

• the May 22, 2025 Memorandum and Order on Consolidated Plaintiffs’ Motions for Preliminary Injunction by District of Massachusetts Federal Judge Myong J. Joun order to reinstate the roughly 1,300 Education Department employees who were told in March that they would lose their jobs as part of a sweeping reduction-in-force and “to restore the Department to the status quo.”

 

• the May 22, 2025 Harvard Crimson article by William C. Mao and Veronica H. Paulus entitled, Trump Admin Lawyer Concedes Removal of HMS Professors’ Research from Federal Website Violated First Amendment. Consider why relief may no longer be possible.

 

• the May 22, 2025 Supreme Court grant of stay of orders enjoining the President’s removal of a member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and a member of the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), respectively and of Justice Kagan’s dissenting opinion.

 

• the May 22, 2025 Decision of the General Accounting Office finding that the Administration Trump Administration violated the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 by illegally withholding funds for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. The NEVI Formula Program was created under the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 to help states expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

 

• the May 20, 2025 Harvard Crimson article by Megan L. Blonigen and William C. Mao, entitled, Experts Say Criminal Charges May Be a Bid To Convince HMS Researcher To Leave the U.S. Voluntarily. Consider whether a DOJ acting as country’s lawyers rather than the President’s lawyers  would bring such criminal charges.
